I am so so "kaput" right now.

- BBQ =) i really liked it =) *yumz*

I am excited!!! Are you too? Simply cos it is the FIRST EVER! And i know together we'll and we can make it a success!!! I was very touched when our 'net' worked!!!! =) Somehow it encouraged me that "yes, we can conquer and dream dreams as a tribe!" Hope it did the same for you all too.

Glad too for the opportunity to pray together with other sisters from other cells [Pearlie (Yuling's cell) and Yvonne (Faith's cell)]. Was extremely blessed. Let us embark together on this journey! It will definitely be a historic moment =) heh, simply cos it has never been done b4! I pray that God'll start stirring excitement in your hearts, and also to increase the faith in our hearts to believe God for great things at the Tribe Camp!

Hi everyone, haven't written in ages. How was the Miracle Catch for each of you? Did God do a Miracle in your own hearts? He did for me.

My cousin, Jasmine, came to know the Lord yesterday. She told me she believed b4 already. Yet, i believe yesterday was another opportunity for the Lord to re-assure her that Jesus is real & He loves her and will walk this life journey with her. Praise God for this new addition to our family.

Miracles.

Miracle weekend may have just passed, but i believe the God of miracles want to continue to live in our hearts & give us miracles daily.

I want that miracle. Do you?

Last weekend, we had a fun, and REALLY tiring 24-hr action-packed camp.

We did so many things - high-element ropes course (although I had to leave for my cousin's wedding), raft-building followed by racing, flag painting, dancing, and last but certainly not the least, the 12-km hike - all in 24 hours...

I have to confess that after the whole day's activities and by 2am, I was completely wiped out, especially since it was after the 2-hour dance session. My legs were threatening to cramp, and my hands were slightly swollen, I suspect from multiple rafia abrasions during the raft-building. I was also having a slight headache, probably due to dehydration, or the lack of sugar, or salt, or sleep, but probably all of the above, as the day had been very hot and humid. And I've had only about 4 hours of sleep everyday for the whole week. So not only was I physically exhausted from the whole day's activities, my mind was also shutting down...

I knew I really needed some super boost of energy, alertness, strength and everything... but the coffee arrived only after I've had 2 pratas, teh-tarik, and one can of 100-plus?!! no more space liao, so I had only one option left (the best option no less) - PRAY!!! I asked God to give me the strength, alertness & wisdom to look after my sheep, stamina, etc, etc... like no coffee, food/glucose injection, or isotonic drink can. I asked for covering and protection *keep me from harm* And, yes, God granted my request.

Although by only 2km into the hike, I felt like my feet were about to separate from my ankles (like many others), *nobody* had any incident of ankles getting sprained or so. In fact, no one was really sick or hurt from the whole hike, although there were many zombies *muahahha* The most amazing thing was, I wasn't one of the zombies. On the contrary I was so awake, I was chatting with people throughout the walk, until everyone was so tired or so zonked out, that no one wanted to talk to me anymore. And my headache was gone, and my mind completely alert. God is good.

Many other things happened, which is evidence that our work is spiritual warfare, almost literally... I'm glad that there are many opportunities to minister to and pray for the sheep... Many of them are also open to hear me speak of it, and even discuss issues with me. I am so thankful that there is such openness, and I ask God that there will be more of such opportunities.

The fields are ripe for harvest...

Miracle Catch

CATCH? CATCH What?

hi my sisters, it's 31st May 2006. That also means we are 25 days away to Miracle Catch. *Help,Lord!*

Lord, what do we wanna catch? Lord, how do we catch?Lord...Teach us! Perhaps I should share the state of my heart & also my thoughts. Perhaps there're some of you out there who feel the same way as i do.

(1) Lord, how?

i realise that i am still wavering, hovering about the Miracle Catch. To catch or not to catch. HOW to catch!!! I realise that not knowing how to catch affects me - it affects whether i wanna take the step to catch. Yet, i also know that if i believe that God has spoken, and it is a word & time set aside by the Lord. I shouldn't be hovering. It's as good as Jesus said "Follow me!" and here i am, walking back & forth asking/wondering "should i or should i not?"

Make a decision and stick to it. Faith - where does it come from? Faith comes from hearing & hearing the Word of God. I recall being fired up, being stirred up to believe 12 in 12 weeks. I know deep in my heart, i longed for the breakthru. 12 in 12 weeks. I know i need to keep hearing His Word, keep recalling His promises. I wanna stick to it, i wanna see it come to pass. How? i dun really know - except that it is a MIRACLE. Perhaps it's time i learn the meaning of this word - M I R A C L E.

(2) Lord, what?

What do You want me to do? P R A Y & B E L I E V E. OBEY & ACT on His Words. In John 21:5-6 "He called out to them, "Friends, haven't you any fish?" "No," they answered. He said, "Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some." When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish."

Hear His commands/instructions - "throw the net" and also Jesus told the disciples which side to throw!

Act out His commands/instructions - "when they did" - the miracle was there waiting to happen. However, it only crystallised when the net was thrown. The miracle was already there - the many many fishes that were already in the water. Yet, the miracle required an ACTION on our part to come alive! Actually the action that was required wasn't very tough - it was to merely "throw [our] net" (and for fishermen, this must be like ABC).

Well, the time has come again when the Lord asked me - Are you a fisher of men? Are you fishing for Me? And will you hear my call to "throw your net"? He says to me - "The fishes are already there. I am the Lord who gathers them. But i need you - to throw your net. Would you?"

Have I forgotten how to "throw my net"? Have i forgotten how to fish? Have i forgotten my calling & purpose in life to "fish for men"?

What are some of the actions (throwing of net) that the Lord requires of you today? Praying? Fasting? Asking? Talking? Encouraging? Comforting? Being there? Being available? Loving? Listening? Writing?

Lord, i dun wanna miss your moment. Lord, that when You asked me to throw that net - i stare at You wide-eyed and not budge cos of fear, cos of doubt, cos of unbelief. Lord...increase my faith. Lord...impart Your skills & anointing. Lord, increase in me! net

As I was speaking to a friend about cell groups & all, I was reminded that in very few communities, even Christian ones, can we enjoy such close relationships - not just as fellow-Christians, or even friends, but as SISTERS. So for all of you, and for our dear Pastor Khong who believed God and embraced the G12 Vision, I give thanks. Amen.

Pleasing God

Devotion take from Encounter with God (Monday,22 May 2006)

Pray:

Loving Lord, help me to discern more clearly when I am pleasing You and when I am only pleasing myself.

Read: Galatians 6:1-10

Meditate:

Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your soul. For my yoke fits perfectly, and the burden I give you is light” (Matt. 11:28-30 NLT).

Here Paul leaves his theological, sometimes theoretical, discourse and focuses more on the personal. He describes the person who lives to “please the Spirit” rather than the “sinful nature” (8). The person living to please the Spirit is not full of himself (3). He does not think he is immune to sin (1). He does not think he is above helping others who are in need or have problems (2). He doesn’t compare himself to other people but he has a good sense of who he is and what he is called to do (4,5). He is generous (6). In short, he is full of the Holy Spirit.
While this might be our desire, living this way is not always our experience. Paul warns us not to “become weary in doing good” (9). My experience is that when I am weary, it is often because I am trying to please the Spirit and my sinful nature at the same time. I am overly impressed with how important my work is. As I compare myself to other people, I grow weary.
When I am focused on pleasing God, the burden feels lighter. But even if I am weary in those times, I am encouraged that I will “reap a harvest if we do not give up” (9).

Apply:

What activities are you doing that grow out of the Spirit’s leading within? What activities are you doing which may be pleasing your sinful nature more than the Holy Spirit? When are you most likely to grow weary? Will you bring any weariness to Jesus, and ask him to give you rest?

Pray:

Jesus, I come to You, asking You to help me bear Your yoke, and not a yoke of my own making. May I experience lightness in the burden You have given to me.

Hellos sisters, it's been a really long time since i wrote. Many thoughts & i guess there is a part of me that wanted to share, yet i wanted 2 make sure i wasn't writing nonsense, so u all dun end up reading nonsense =)

Share with u all the words of the song above, it has become the prayer of my heart during this season as i yearn for PURITY in my heart. Why PURITY? Cos' i wanna see God. Matthew 5:8 "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God."

Wanna share with u all my journey as i told the Lord that i truly wanna be pure - in actions, in speech, in thoughts, in love...in everything. U know what? As i prayed this prayer, i realised how difficult it is & many times, it's like something so impossible & elusive. As i desired to be pure, wow, the Holy Spirit highlighted to me my 'impurities' & sensitised me to the things i was insensitive to!!! Even small lil' things/thots/meditations which i sub-consciously had and which are impure in the eyes of God. And i realise...if i wanna do this in the flesh, it is impossible. If i wanna do this in my own strength, it is also impossible. I must walk and live by the Spirit.

Well, i am still on that journey...

Oh, dunno if u all read the lil' note by Ps Nina in the bulletin last Sunday (the Mother's day one)...anyways, i was v encouraged when she addressed us as Women of Destiny and to encourage us to grow in Faith, Hope & Love. (hmmm, sounds familiar? - well, take a look at our blog name =) and what's written there)

Dear sisters, let us never forget, we are on a JOURNEY, and it matters...as a FAMILY that we walk this journey together. Thanking God for each of u, net

God's Precious Daugther & My Sister, Hauteng

Words of appreciation & affirmation must be conveyed & spoken, if not, the other person wld never know =) When i read Hauteng's post & saw the picture of her with her NDP babies, my heart swelled with pride & joy. I know it was not easy for her to speak/share those words that she did, and even as she shared, it was from her weaknesses made perfect in the Lord's strength and with obedience to the Lord. She is that harvester who has responded to God's call to GO.

"The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves." Luke 10:2-3

And i know what keeps her going year after year, serving in NDP, is obedience to the Lord & to press on in the vision & promises of the Lord for the lost amongst them. This is definitely NOT her comfort zone! Hehehe, for those who know Hauteng, this would probably be one of the last things you'd catch her doing! Hahahha, to ra-ra with the students =) hahahha. You know, over these few years, she even 'invested' in gear for NDP! Her infamous waist-pouch, her sport-shoes =) *hee* Trading her fashionable handbags and high-heels for these is a sacrifice =) And her precious Saturdays? From all those times that i have known her... "ice-breakers" is not her favorite activity =) heheheh, but nowadays, week after week, she gotta be ra-ra queen to motivate the motivators! I am sure, there must have been times when she felt like a gentle lamb in the midst of ravenous wolves. But i know our GOD is there with her and she is such a delight to the Father!

Well, why am i making mention of all these? It is so that we can all be encouraged! Is God challenging you this day to move into an area of discomfort to serve His people & for the glory of His Kingdom? Are you feeling like you "cannot make it" cos' this is "just so not you"? Well, take heart, many of us are doing things that are "SO NOT US"! =) So you are not alone! =) It's during these times when we are so not in our element and inadequate, that GOD comes thru for us, and when we know it is no longer about us but HIM. May u be encouraged this day to rise up as God's harvester for a time such as this...all you need is just a WILLING HEART (and of course, hands and legs that agree & move with the heart!)

And for Hauteng & those of us who have been persevering in God's call, here's a word of encouragement too:-

"God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope sure. We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself, saying, "I will surely bless you and give you many descendants."And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised." Hebrews 6:10-15

Today i met an interesting customer by the name of Sabrina.
Somehow God's compassion overflows in my heart for her.
Perhaps, she resembles so much like one of my lost sheep.
I said a prayer that she would taste that God is good and faithful despite all of circumstances and pple.

Are We Breeding Mosquitoes?

Hi all,

interesting title? Guess Who inspired me? HOLY SPIRIT! =) I am not going to talk about eradicating dengue, but something the Lord spoke to me on Sunday as i was making my way to church. =) May u all be blessed! (I realise that I have quite a bit to share, and i hope to find that time 2 pen/share my insights.)

"On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified." John 7:37-39

Are we "streams of living water" or are we "ponds of stagnant water"?

Interesting imagery? The Lord asked me, "Linnet, are you a stream or are you a pond?"

Streams as we all know, FLOW. Ponds, stagnate and the water in there is still.

Many times, we ask the Lord to fill us with His Holy Spirit, and the Lord does. According to God's Word in John 7:37-39, when the Holy Spirit fills us, from within us, streams of living water will flow! Wow! Isn't that fantastic! But let's not miss the point! Why does God fill us with His Holy Spirit? For us to feel good? For us to have "goose-bumps"? For us to "feel God's fire"? Well, let's look at Acts 1:8:-

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8

We learn from God's word that when He sends us His Holy Spirit, it is that we may receive power, and that power to be His witnesses to the ends of the earth. We are to be streams of LIVING WATER to people around us, to the thirsty, to the lost! We are not to be spiritual ponds.

When we receive from the Lord, (ie when there is an in-flow), there needs to be an out-flow. If not, when we just keep having in-flow & in-flow, we become 'choked' and we ultimately stagnate. God's ways have always been not of this world. =) Remember what He says?

"In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' "Acts 20:35

"One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed." Proverbs 11:24-25

Well my sisters, I pray this day for each of us, that we will truly be STREAMS OF LIVING WATER. I pray too, for the Holy Spirit to fill each of you, to refresh each of you. For those, who are feeling dry & thirsty, rem God's invitation to you - Come & Drink! And this invitation is not just on Sundays! It is a 24 x 7 invitation! =) May u be blessed!

The Harvest is Plentiful...

30 of the 40 students in my NDP cluster at our very first meeting 2 weeks back, with May Chin, ex-Motivators and volunteer with us. And me.

Very thankful, and am believing the Lord for a great miracle, a great harvest.

Earlier this week, I did really feel like I was drowning in the midst of everything... almost literally everything... work, family, ministry... I was so tired, so drained metally, emotionally...

and I thought I heard God just remind me of this verse from one of my favourite books, Joshua 3:15

"Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest..."

It was at this point the priests in faith stepped into the river to make their way to the middle... of a rushing river at flood stage!

And I felt a bit like that... like I'm about to go under coz the waters are up to my neck..

But by faith, I'm gonna believe the waters are going to dry up, and its time for harvest.

Just sense the Lord say today, "..The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field..." Luke 10:1-2

I believe that refers to us. Let's ask God to send us out today.

An Easy Yoke? A Light Burden?

It's Friday. How was your week? Heavy-going? How are you feeling? Heavy-laden? Is there so much to do at work/in school that you even somehow wish there was just another week-day for u to complete your stuff? Well, if that's how you are feeling, I just wanna share a Word of encouragement & God's invitation for you:-
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30)
I pray for each of you that you'll find true rest for your souls in the Lord & for your spirit to be renewed & refreshed. The Lord bless you & keep you & cause His Face to shine upon you. Love, net

Lord, thank you for this sink of dirty dishes; we have plenty of food to eat.Thank you for this pile of dirty, stinky laundry;we have plenty of nice clothes to wear. And I would like to thank you, Lord, for those unmade beds; they were so warm and comfortable last night.I know that many have no bed. My thanks to you, Lord, for this bathroom,complete with all the splattered mirrors,soggy, grimy towels and dirty lavatory;they are so convenient. Thank you for this finger-smudged refrigerator that needs cleaning. It has served us faithfully for many years. It is full of cold drinks and enough leftovers for two or three meals. Thank you, Lord, for this oven that absolutely must be cleaned today; It has baked so many things over the years. The whole family is grateful for that tall grass that we all enjoy the yard.My kids are healthy and able to run and play.Lord, the presence of all these chores awaiting me saysYou have richly blessed my family. I shall do them cheerfully and I shall do them gratefully. Even though I clutch my blanket and growl when the alarm rings, Thank you, Lord, that I can hear.There are many who are deaf.Even though I keep my eyes closed against the morning light as long as possible,Thank you, Lord, that I can see. Many are blind. Love One Another

Dear Lord, in one short sentence, You mentioned it 3 times...Love one another...it must be something so important on Your heart. And Lord, You probably know we need to be reminded & encouraged constantly to do just that, cos our 'default' mode is one that tends towards "love myself". Dear Lord, grant me strength to love as You would. Dear Lord, to give as You gave...O Lord, make me more like You. ~Linnet~

Someone sent it to me this year, It means alot to me. Cause very much like the Isrealites I also love to grumble. This poem helps me to put many things in perspective and often remind how good God really is, even when I dun see. Hope this brightens your day!!

Good Morning =)

It's a new morning =) and i thought of each of you, sisters. I also thought of some of us who are either starting our day at work, or those who've exams later in school (Jasmine&Esther). God be with each of us. Last night before i went to bed, Holy Spirit spoke to me about prayer. Gonna take some time later to reflect & go deeper into what He told me. Well, just to share some thoughts...(some which we have heard many times before, but yesterday, somehow the Holy Spirit helped me consolidate my thots)...

Prayerless-ness is powerless-ness...
Yet why do we often not pray?
Why do we even pray?
Prayer is not to ask God to do things our way.
Prayer is not to request God to fulfill our requests.
Prayer is not a wish-list to ask God to make come true, and we go "God...please...please...please...make it happen...oh pleaseeee...."

Have we often heard this? "Oh...i pray pray pray..but no use...God never answer one...Why shld I pray?" or "Pray for what, pray already also like that"...

Oh...that we would understand...that prayer is not about us...it's about Him...not our kingdom...but His Kingdom...Are we behaving like "gods"...and dictating & directing that God Himself shall & should "do our will"?

Prayer is connecting to the Father...like connecting to a power source.
Prayer is saying "Your will be done" (Matthew 6:9-10)
Prayer is relinquishing our desires & asking that His be established.

How then shall we pray? (of course, Jesus taught us from Matthew 6:5-14)
Further to that, I'd like to share some insights which the Holy Spirit spoke to me last night...

When we PRAY...
(1) we must know our POSITION
We are His children. We are co-heirs with Christ. (Matthew 7:9-11)

(2) we must have the right POSTURE
We must be humble before the Lord. We need to be like Jesus...telling the Father, "Your will be done & not mine".

(3) we must know our PURPOSE
See: James 4:1-3

(4) we must have the right PERSPECTIVE
We must not forget that HE is the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY & NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR HIM!
We need to remember HE is a good & perfect Father who does not withhold anything good from those who fear Him & love Him. He is the Lord who gives us good & perfect gifts! (James 1:16-17, Luke 11:9-13)
We need to know that when He opens His hands, He satisfies the desires of every living thing (Psalm 104:28)
We also know from His Word that before we ask, our all-knowing God already knows what we need. (Matthew 6:8)

(5) we must have His PASSION
Having His passion will help us persist and persevere in prayer & endure with patience.

(6) we must have the right PARTNERSHIP
We must partner with the Holy Spirit. (Romans 8:26-27)
The Holy Spirit will teach us & guide us in all truth.

Would you join me today in connecting with the Father? Would you heed His invitation to come aside with Him to a quiet place...(Mark 6:31) that He may confide in you the secrets of His heart? He is calling, He is inviting you today...He says to you..."COME".

I pray for each of you today...that you'll heed His call...and i pray the Holy Spirit continue to show you even more from His Word, than what He showed me...I am going to explore His Word for more truths regarding prayer...=)

the first entry and the same invitation, it has always been "COME".
Dear sisters, decided to start something for our tribe, cos' i read blogs from the other tribes & i realise that we can share so much and inspire one another, encourage one another, in spite of busy schedules and not always being able to be at the same place at the same time. But here...we can. Here, our hearts can begin to beat as one. That's my desire. Is it yours?

I am not a techie, but i wanna still get this rolling...cos i know there're techies amongst us that knw how to add pictures, change designs etc etc. Well, this reminds me...we are one body and with many parts...so i truly look forward to hearing more from each of you...
